RECORDING STUDIO
This recording studio was first established in 2006, and was an idea conjured up by the current owner. Tired of travelling great lengths in order to find a rehearsal space that wasn’t booked out and not being able to rehearse in his unit (noise restrictions) he decided to set up quality rooms in a central location. His cousin was very keen to be involved in the process and decided to become a business partner with the intention of having a recording space of which he could produce demos for local artists.
A business plan was drawn up and taken to the bank in order to get start up finance. After months of inspecting commercial properties a suitable location was found just outside the CBD.
After long days and money spent, finally the word spread, the business quickly became booked out on weeknights with bands also in on weekends.
Another friend was able to utilize the space and teach guitar lessons to multiple students, the office was used to do video editing and photo imaging with some success. Many of their current clients have been there from the beginning, proving to be regular and reliable
The studios have largely gone unused during daytime hours therefore, there is potential for the business to develop and increase profits, e.g. use by artists, designers, film industry etc.
The established business has a regular and broad client base that will only build especially as more people are confined to living in units and townhouses; the recording studio has real potential to be taken to a professional level and is a great workspace. A small group of artists, musicians and designers etc working together could turn this business into a grand production facility, it’s all there ready and waiting, the potential is unlimited.
The studios have been marketed to the 18-35yo age group through ads in RIP IT UP and DB magazine as well as some promotion on local radio. There is a current website for the business, which also showcases songs from some of the bands that frequent the premises.
LEASE DETAILS
The premises have a lease term commencing 11/06/09 and expiring in 10/06/11 although a further extension can be negotiated.
Current rental is $14,970 plus GST per annum.
