History

The Jamaica Blue brand was established in 1992. Its first cafe opened up in Miranda, NSW. Since then, outlets have grown to over 70 throughout Australia, New Zealand, Dubai and China. The name originates from the renowned and majestic Blue Mountains in Jamaica where the climatic conditions are ideal for growing premium coffee. The Jamaica Blue concept is built on the central theme of ‘fine coffee’ which emanate throughout the cafe. Jamaica Blue’s distinct advantage is its genuinely superior espresso coffee and the extent of its health conscious food offering to customers in a contemporary cafe environment.

 

Location

This Jamaica Blue franchise is situated in an island format, amongst premium retail trade in the North Western Adelaide suburb of West Lakes within the heart of the largest shopping complex in the area. It is also located opposite the AAMI football park stadium, a Mecca tourist attraction for AFL sports fans. Located 15 minutes from the heart of the Adelaide CBD, the area includes outstanding public transport and an abundance of free parking.

 

Jamaica Blue Westlakes has been owned by its current owner since January 2007.

 

Demographics

Suburb demographic consists of young families with teenage children and also major industries such as re tail trade and the most common of workers being clerical & administrative. Average house prices in West Lakes are in excess of $600,000 thus attracting affluent individuals.

 

Products & Services

A wide range of exclusive gourmet espresso coffees as well as freshly prepared juices, nutritious milkshakes, frappes, thick shakes and smoothies are available. The cafe also offers fresh light meals, cakes, slices and biscuits, varieties of Turkish breads, pastas, salads, wraps, frittatas and sweets. Products are notably health conscious. The cafe also sells whole high quality coffee beans and ground coffee for the customer to take home and enjoy. Jamaica Blue has an extensive website and is fully supported by regular radio, television (including morning show slots), newspaper, bus wraps and transport shelter campaigns. There is also the in-house glossy magazine called Jamaica Blue Escape which is distributed on a monthly basis.

Achievements

Jamaica Blue’s parent company, Food co Group, has been named the winners of the Retail Excellence 2008 award, in honour of the late founder James Fitzgerald. Individual franchisee achievements are recognised on incentives that create acknowledgement and appreciation within the states.
